Case STUDY

For my Web Design class, I had to find a local business and find ways to improve their IMC strategy. So, I chose a cute local boutique called Lavish Retail + Co. in Tuscaloosa, AL.

About Them

Lavish Retail + Co. was started in 2014 under the name Lavish Tuscaloosa. They first started off as a clothing brick- and morter store in their early years selling most of their products solely online but later opening a store in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Since their start in 2014, Lavish Retail +Co. has expanded their location to Orange Beach, Alabama making them now have 2 in store locations.

They are known for their trendy women’s fashion, accessories, and unique finds. And  they cater primarily to college students and young professionals.

Lavish Retail + Co. blends Southern charm with modern style.

My Analysis

For my analysis I started with the important element when running a business and that is the social media presence/ Image. Analyzing this helps me see their brand visibility, engagements on their social media networks and customer engagements.

I took a look into Lavish Retail +Co’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. When I looked into these I looked for what could be improved in the following:

Inconsistent Branding

When checking out their social medias its clear they put effort in their posting materials which is great. But, their posting is a bit inconsistent and not super visually appealing. Especially if their target audience is College students.

Lack of Events

There was evidence of a collab event they did with a permanent jewlery maker which I think was a great idea. But I think hosting more events could be very beneficial in getting more customers to engage with their store.

More Collaborations

I notice in my analysis that their was very few Collaborations that’ll bring in more business for them. The amazing thing about collabs is it helps both parties involved with reaching a bigger/different audience so they really need to capatalize on this to really boost sales and engagements.

Solution Ideas

* For solutions, they need to work on the things mentioned in the above sections. Incoporating the use of a planned content calendar or even making distiguishable vibes and tones for each of their social media can really help reach and appeal to different audiences. They need to take in considersation that Instagram and TikTok are social media is used more their targeted age like young adults and college age consumers. And Facebook is more used by those are older like the college students parents! So have Instagram and TikTok be more fun and trendy while their Facebook page should be more polished with a bit of charm.

* Another thing is doing more events to market their business and intrigue more customers. So doing something like a photo booth wall where people can come in and take pictures in a photo booth and a Lavish branded backdrop will get the young customers involved while also promoting your business once the pictures are posted on social media.

* Lastly is to do more Collabarations. Their market is selling clothing and accessories for Football Gamedays so they need to lean into that! They are based in a college football town, so find ways to collab with The University of Alabama so they can be exposed to more college students new and those who have been there for awhile.
